The
simultaneous straightening of the hip, knee, and ankle joints is
referred to as the "triple extension." It is the fundamental
athletic move and provides the force for acceleration, separation,
and elevation. It is the capability that distinguishes one athlete
from another on the field of play.
Although numerous exercises are suggested, doing just our three basic jumps
on the V4 will radically increase an athlete's ability to accomplish the "triple
extension," and make an immediate and measurable improvement in any acceleration-based
competitive move. As with all VertiMax models, hundreds of resistance settings
are immediately available.
Training
Benefits:
Increases the explosive power of all major muscle groups in the legs to improve
the vertical jump and acceleration/deceleration capabilities.
Number of Resistance Bands and Resistance Settings:
The Classic 4 (V4) has four resistance bands - two emerging from the left side
of the platform and two emerging from the right side of the platform. Depending
on the capability of the athlete, jump training can be performed with one set
(two cords) or both sets (4 cords) attached to the waist. The resistance of
each cord can be individually adjusted to suit the user's needs by extracting
the cords out of the machine through the resistance adjustment cam cleats.
Primary
On-Platform Exercises:
1) Vertical Jump Training (Quarter Quick or Half Quick) - Many sports-specific
explosive exercises can be performed but our "Basic Training Routine" consisting
of 'Quarter Quick' and 'Half Quick' explosive jumps will produce immediate
and outstanding improvements in an athlete's time out of the blocks, his vertical
jump, and his 40 times!
2) Hip
Flexor Training - This rarely trained muscle group is imperative
for improving speed. VertiMax allows you to isolate and develop
the explosive power of this muscle in each leg to optimally improve
speed. One set of Hip Flexor Attachments come standard with each
V4, and can be used to perform exercises such as running in place,
thigh drives, and other sports specific movements which will markedly
improve thigh recovery time for sprinters, skaters, running backs,
etc.
Primary Off-Platform
Exercises: NOT ALLOWED!
The Classic 4 unit does not allow off platform training where the athlete can
step off the platform to perform exercises while resistance cords are attached
to their body.
